"One month ago today, Dec. 26 our amazing beautiful daughter came into this world," Smart captioned a photo of herself with her daughter.

"Feeling so grateful to have her in my arms... after years of fertility struggles I give thanks today to our kind, loving surrogate for carrying her. @carterooster," she added.

Smart and Oosterhouse, a 40-year-old HGTV television personality, announced Flora's birth Dec. 31. The news came as a surprise to some since the couple hadn't said they were expecting.

"It is with great gratitude and pleasure to welcome our little girl Flora to the world. What a blessed way to bring in 2017," the actress wrote at the time. "Amen and Thank You God for this special new life!!"

"We are so excited to announce the birth of our little lady...Flora! We love you more than you know and can't wait to experience the journey. What a blessing," Oosterhouse added.

Smart and Oosterhouse married in 2011 after more than a year of dating. The actress is known for the film Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds, and for playing Ruby on Felicity, Jasmine on Shameless and Allison on Justified.
