Rapper Lil Twist receives one year in jail after pleading no contest to assault of Christopher Massey

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Rapper Lil Twist has been sentenced to one year in jail after pleading no contest to assaulting actor Christopher Massey.

Lil Twist real name Christopher Lynn Moore, entered his plea over objections from prosecutors on the first day of his trial according to The New York Daily News citing a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Lil Twist was then sentenced to one year in jail with three years of formal probation. He is scheduled to turn himself in on Feb. 3.

"Just left court . TMZ bout to break the news I'm sho!! It's over but not really, GOD got me!!" Lil Twist wrote on Twitter Wednesday following the sentencing. "I'm still out chea...We got some time before clock in ! Prayers up doe," he continued while responding to a fan who wrote "Free @LilTwist."

According to TMZ, Lil Twist is accused of formally breaking into Massey's apartment back in November of 2014 where he beat down the Zoey 101 star with four others and robbed him of his rolex.

Notably, Lil Twist was once known as a close friend of Justin Bieber's and previously released a song with the pop star entitled "Intertwine."
