Taylor Swift, Aziz Ansari celebrate Lorde's birthday

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift, Aziz Ansari and Mae Whitman were among the party-goers at Lorde's 20th birthday celebration in New York on Monday, which was organized by Swift.

The birthday dinner was held at Carbone's in Manhattan and was decorated with gold balloons which spelled "U R 20."

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, posted a series of photos from the party, including one with Swift planting a kiss on her cheek.

Swift also shared a picture of a birthday card she made for Lorde, thanking her for her music and friendship.

"Thank you for the music you make, the advice you give, the thoughts you provoke, and the way you've made my life more beautiful since the first day we met up in New York and ate burgers on a park bench and got attacked by squirrels. I. Love. You. So. Much. Ella," Swift wrote in the photo's caption.

Lorde and Swift shared several photos from the night, including a group shot and a picture of both Swift and comedian Aziz Ansari decked out in cat shirts.

Lorde shared a note the day before her big day, announcing work on her second album, a follow-up to 2013's "Perfect Heroine."
