Shailene Woodley pleads not guilty after pipeline protest arrest

MORTON COUNTY, N.D., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Shailene Woodley pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal trespass and engaging in a riot following her arrest at the Dakota Access Pipeline protest site.

Woodley was arrested on Oct. 10 during a peaceful protest against the construction of the oil pipeline in North Dakota.

The actress did not attend Wednesday's hearing and her plea was entered by her attorney, Alexander Reichert.

Woodley's case could go to trial where she'd face the two misdemeanor charges.
