Courtney Stodden: Lifelike doll has helped after miscarriage

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Courtney Stodden is using a lifelike doll to help her cope with her miscarriage.

The 22-year-old television personality told Us Weekly in an interview Tuesday that caring for her "reborn" baby has been "surprisingly healing" since she lost her unborn child with Doug Hutchison in July.

"I got a reborn baby based on the advice of my therapist," Stodden explained. "Apparently, quite often, these babies are used to help women cope with losing an angel baby whether that be in the form of a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss."

"It's been surprisingly healing having him here with me," she revealed. "When I hold him, I feel incredibly calm. He offers a soothing effect that I need at this point in time ... I [think] the artist did a remarkable job at creating him."

Stodden's representative had said at the time of the miscarriage that the television personality and Hutchison were at "an emotional loss for words." Stodden shared a video of herself welcoming the "reborn" baby last week.

"Just received my reborn baby today! Exciting. I know it may seem a little strange but my therapist suggested that having him may help me cope with my loss. #rebornbaby," she captioned the clip.

Stodden was 16 when she married Hutchison, then 50, in 2011. She and the actor, who is known for Lost and 24, have since appeared on the reality series Celebrity Big Brother and Couples Therapy.
