LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- ABC and Lucasfilm are reportedly in talks to develop a Star Wars primetime series, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey revealed on Thursday.

Parent company Disney has been rebooting the Star Wars franchise with the release of last year's box office smash Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and additional Star Wars films are in the works. Disney is also dedicating space at Disneyland for a Star Wars-themed attraction.

Dungey was mum about whether the primetime project would be live-action, though there is speculation that a cartoon is less likely given the success of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels.

"I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming," Dungey said.
