Kurt Angle will not be coming back to WWE

PITTSBURGH, June 24 (UPI) -- Former WWE Superstar and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle will not be returning to the WWE.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials have confirmed that Angle is not coming back despite comments that he wold be and rumors that the company was interested in him due to the upcoming brand split and draft.

On Monday, Angle excited fans that a return was imminent when he mentioned on Mark Madden's Super Genius radio show that he had amicable conversations with both WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon and COO Triple H.

"Will I return? Yes. I don't know when," Angle explained to Madden.

Angle, a grand slam champion in WWE having previously earned the WWE, World, Tag Team, Intercontinental and European Championships during his time in the company, departed in 2006. The 47-year-old then competed in TNA where he remained until his final televised match back in March.
