Daniel Bryan returns to host WWE Cruiserweight Classic alongside Mauro Ranallo

ORLANDO, Fla., June 23 (UPI) -- Former WWE Superstar and World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan is returning to host WWE's upcoming Cruiserweight Classic.

The 32-man tournament which is set to air exclusively on the WWE Network every Wednesday from July 13 through September 14, will feature Bryan commentating on matches alongside Smackdown announcer Mauro Ranallo.

"It was five months ago when Daniel Bryan said his goodbyes to the WWE Universe, but now, the leader of the "Yes!" Movement is making his return to WWE television," the company said in a statement Wednesday referencing the competitors emotional on-air retirement on Raw from back in February.

"Bryan also brings a unique perspective to the announcers' table, just months removed from his retirement as an active in-ring competitor. Not only does he know what it takes to make it with the WWE Universe watching, but Bryan is a contemporary of several CWC competitors," WWE continued about Bryan's history with some of the Cruiserweight talent that will be featured.

Ranallo also shared his excitement for the opportunity on Twitter writing "Honored to be calling the @WWE CWC with one of my all time favorite performers @WWEDanielBryan Get ready for one heck of a ride!"

The Cruiserweight Classic will feature stars from around the world including Zack Sabre Jr., Kota Ibushi, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Akira Tozawa, Tajiri, Brian Kendrick, Cedric Alexander and more.

In an interview posted on WWE's official Youtube page, Bryan discussed the event and how it benefits the fans and competitors. "I think this whole thing is awesome," he said. "We really get a chance to see wrestlers from all over the world who are all the best where they're at. They come here and compete in front of a WWE audience, on the network and I think that's super cool and a huge opportunity for these guys."
