NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- Amy Schumer is letting body shamers know she's happy with the way she looks.

The 34-year-old Inside Amy Schumer star praised her body as "strong and healthy" in an Instagram post Tuesday after social media users criticized recent photos of her in a swimsuit.

"I meant to write 'good morning trolls!' I hope you find some joy in your lives today in a human interaction and not just in writing unkind things to a stranger you've never met who triggers something in you that makes you feel powerless and alone," Schumer wrote.

"This is how I look," she added of the picture in question. "I feel happy. I think I look strong and healthy and also like miss trunchbull from Matilda. Kisses!"

Schumer and boyfriend Ben Hanisch were celebrating their six-month anniversary in Hawaii when the actress was photographed in her swimsuit. She previously discussed body image on Today, admitting it's an "emotional" point of conversation.

"It's been a struggle for me my whole life, and especially just being in the entertainment industry," the star said. "Standing on a stage in front of people, I can't perform my best or be confident if I'm not sure -- if I'm pulling at something [I'm wearing]."

Schumer clashed with Glamour last month after the magazine included her in their plus-size issue. She later praised the publication for doing "so many great things for women," but said she doesn't believe in using "plus size" as a label.
