Pokémon 'Sun' and 'Moon': Starter Pokémon, release date revealed in latest trailer

TOKYO, May 10 (UPI) -- Nintendo has revealed the new trio of starter Pokémon in the latest trailer for the next two entries in the popular series, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

The clip released Tuesday, gives fans their first look at new pocket monsters Rowlet, Litten and Popplio who players in signature Pokémon fashion will be asked to choose from before starting their journey.

The fire, water and grass-type Pokémon have been detailed by Nintendo on the game's official website listing the owl-inspired Rowlet as a "Grass Quill Pokémon," the feline Litten as a "Fire Cat Pokémon," and the clown-nosed Popplio as a "Sea Lion Pokémon."

The trailer also highlighted new locations and characters that will appear in Sun and Moon along with confirmation that the games will launch for the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.

In celebration of Pokémon's 20th anniversary, Nintendo re-released first-generation Pokémon adventures Red, Blue and Yellow for the 3DS eShop back in February.
