NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Tyrese Gisbson is coming to Empire, he said during an interview on the Wendy Williams show on Friday.

"Me and Taraji [P. Henson], we gotta do what we do," the 36-year-old singer and actor said, hinting he will drop into character Cookie Lyon's love life in a coming episode. "I'm coming to get my girl back," he said to the live audience's applause.

"All them dudes on there kissing on my girl," Gibson said. "I'm kinda done with seeing all that."

Henson and the popular R&B singer both shared the screen as lovers in the 2001 film Baby Boy. The actress played Yvette, one of two lovers kept by Gibson's character, Jody, as he navigated the journey of becoming an adult.

In Empire, Henson's character Cookie was married to the record company's founder Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and is now leading the label while he is in prison. Last season, Cookie shared a romance not only with her ex-husband but also Malcom, played by Derek Luke.
