ARLINGTON, Iowa, May 28 (UPI) -- The Bachelor star Chris Soules and fiancée Whitney Bischoff have ended their engagement.

Series creator Mike Fleiss broke the news Thursday on Twitter, writing, "Sad news to report: @souleschris and @whitbisch are no longer engaged..."

Soules subsequently confirmed the split through his rep, who said, "Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement."

"They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends," the rep declared. "They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."

The breakup comes just 11 weeks after fans watched Soules propose to Bischoff on The Bachelor season 19 finale. Bischoff moved out to the reality star's farm earlier this month, but has since returned to her hometown of Chicago.

Of the 28 couples who met on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, only six are still together. Season 18 Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis and girlfriend Nikki Ferrell broke up in October 2014, and season 10 Bachelorette and fiancé Josh Murray ended their engagement in January.
