DALLAS, March 11 (UPI) -- Sean Lowe and wife Catherine Giudici are unhappy with the new Bachelorette twist.

The former Bachelor took to his blog Tuesday after the ABC reality series announced Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson will both be featured on season 11 of The Bachelorette. A new group of suitors will ultimately decide which woman is chosen during the season premiere.

"Catherine thinks it's disgusting," he wrote. "As we were sitting on the couch watching this trainwreck of an announcement, she made a good point. One of these poor girls is going to suffer the same rejected she suffered the first go around."

"It's downright degrading for the women -- for the two chosen and the women watching at home," he declared. "This move transfers the power back to the men on the show specifically designed for the women. As one tweet said, 'Once again, you'll have women competing for the attention of men.'"

Lowe considers the new format "a ratings ploy," and expressed concern the contestants won't be suited for two different women. He was careful to say The Bachelor has been "so awesome" to him and Giudici, but asserted "this latest development just doesn't support ... finding true love."

Lowe competed on season eight of The Bachelorette before being selected as the season 18 Bachelor. He proposed to Giudici at the final rose ceremony, and the couple married in a live television wedding in January 2014.
