LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Taylor Launter will return to the silver screen Friday in the action thriller Tracers, his first starring role since the Twilight franchise ended in 2012.

While speaking about his hiatus, the 23-year-old actor told the New York Post it was nice to take a breather after the "nonstop.. for or five years" he spent working on Twilight.

"It's definitely nice to be able to just go out to dinner, if you're with friends or on a date or whatever, and be able to just enjoy yourself," he says of his time out of the spotlight, adding that his avoiding the paparazzi "comes and goes."

Speaking of his role in the new Daniel Benmayor-directed film, Lautner revealed he was scarred during production.

"There was a shot where I just jump over a fence, and I guess I didn't get quite high enough," he said "with a laugh."

Asked if he's all done playing werwolves for the rest of his career, the actor said he "should definitely take a little break."

"But I won't write it out of the future!" he added.
