Kanye West, Kim Kardashian still 'trying' for second child

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Kanye West says he and wife Kim Kardashian are still trying for a second child.

The 37-year-old rapper revealed as much in an interview with The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday. West and Kardashian are already parents to one-year-old daughter North West, and the star credited his wife and child for making him a better person.

"I've definitely learned how to compromise more, which is something you have to understand when you partner with people in business," he shared. "And I've learned to shut up more. Yeah, I think I'm a better human being because of her, and because of my daughter."

"I always have someone to think about going home to," he related. "Cause there are things I've done in the past that were considered negative ... so now I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect, too."

West and Kardashian welcomed daughter North in June 2013, and married in Florence, Italy in May 2014. The couple have been trying for a second child for months, and shared behind the scenes photos from their Balmain campaign earlier this week.

West released his sixth studio album, Yeezus, in June 2013. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles "Black Skinhead" and "Bound 2." He and Kardashian currently appear on E! reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
