Neil Patrick Harris shares loving tribute to grandmother

ALBUQUERQUE, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Neil Patrick Harris took to Instagram in memory of his grandmother this week.

The 41-year-old actor shared a loving tribute to his relative, Martha Jeanne Harris, who died at age 92 on Christmas. Harris posted a picture of the program from the funeral service, which was held in Albuquerque on Tuesday.

"My grandma passed away on Thursday night, services are today," he captioned the snapshot. "Martha Jeanne Harris was 92, lived a long, lovely life. We shared a birthday, 6/15. She'll be missed."

Harris was born to Sheila and Ronald Harris in Albuquerque in 1973. The actor attended high school in the city, and later moved to Los Angeles to continue his acting career. He and longtime partner David Burtka married in September, and have two children, twins Gideon and Harper.

Harris is best known for portraying Barney Stinson on CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He recently led Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, and will guest star with Burkta on FX series American Horror Story: Freak Show in January 2015.
