Sofia Vergara spotted with massive engagement ring

PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello appear to be officially engaged.

The 42-year-old actress was photographed with a large diamond ring on her left hand as she and the 38-year-old actor lounged in Kauai. Vergara and Manganiello were on holiday at the St. Regis hotel in Princeville, and sources say the couple got engaged on Christmas Day.

"He said he wanted to keep [the engagement] private," an insider said of Manganiello to People. "It actually didn't seem like he was joking about that -- he did seem genuinely nervous. He said this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with a one-in-a-million woman."

Vergara and Manganiello have been together since July. The actress was previously married to high school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez from 1990 to 1993, and broke off her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb in May. She and Gonzalez have a 21-year-old son named Manolo.

Vergara is known for portraying Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC sitcom Modern Family. The comedy is in its sixth season, and will return from midseason break Jan. 7, 2015. Manganiello starred as werewolf Alcide Herveaux on HBO series True Blood.
