LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Actress Joan Collins has revealed that her ex-husband Matthew Reed raped her in the 1950s when she was 17. In an interview for the documentary Brave Miss World, the 81-year-old entertainer recounted the time she went out for dinner with Reed and had a drink that was likely spiked with a drug. She remembers losing consciousness and waking up in the middle of the assault.

"The next thing I knew, I was out flat on the sofa in that living room and he was raping me," she says. "And what he had given me was a drug. He had drugged my drink. It wasn't my fault but I didn't know, I went out with him."

Collins said she was still a virgin at the time of the incident and she went out with Reed again and eventually married him, "because you know, he took my virginity."

"I really hated him, but I was so filled with guilt, that he had done this thing to me," she said.

Brave Miss World is a documentary by Cecilia Peck that focuses on the life of Linor Abargil, an Israeli beauty pageant contestant who won the Miss World beauty pageant in 1998 a few weeks after she was raped. The film focuses on her story, along with that of many other prominent men and women who have been raped.
