Nick Cannon covers 'Mariah' tattoo with religious statement

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Nick Cannon pulled a Melanie Griffith and covered up the large "Mariah" tattoo on his back with an image of Jesus on the cross.

The 34-year-old comedian was photographed showing off his new ink Sunday after leaving his Studio City gym shirtless.

Cannon confirmed his split from Grammy winner Mariah Carey in August, telling Yahoo's The Insider that the two had been "living in separate houses for a few months." The America's Got Talent judge also said during the interview that his main focus would be the couple's 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

As of late September, Cannon had been linked to model Amber Rose, who is also in the midst of a divorce from rapper Wiz Khalifa. Insiders have said Cannon had no part in Rose's divorce and that the two have simply bonded over their breakup stories.

Carey and Cannon married in 2008.
