LOS ANGELES, July 17 (UPI) -- Rose McGowan says she doesn't look like Michael Jackson.

The 40-year-old actress got defensive after several people said she resembles Michael Jackson in a new Instagram photo. McGowan uploaded the picture on Tuesday, and included the caption "Afghanistan" without context. The star chose to fire back after she received comments like "#michaeljackson no more plastic surgery please!"

McGowan underwent reconstructive surgery after a car accident in 2007, and told users to "[expletive] off" for the comparison.

"Has anyone stopped to think that Michael Jackson used to be black, and tried to turn himself into a white, possibly Irish person with a cleft chin and tiny nose? I was born Irish. So [expletive] off losers," she wrote. She illustrated her point with a side-by-side screenshot of the singer before and after his surgeries, and captioned the photo, "Exactly. You dumb[expletive]s. Eat it."

McGowan will appear in an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart later this year.
