BOSTON, June 22 (UPI) -- Willie Nelson was in Boston performing at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston on June 17, when he invited an unlikely collaborator to join him on stage for the whole set.

Johnny Depp, who has a music background, played guitar for the whole show, with no reference to his A-list status. Taste of Country reported that concertgoers barely recognized Depp, 51, who was clad in blue jeans, glasses and a dark shirt.

"He just said something like, 'And that's Johnny over there playin' the guitar,' " one fan said of Nelson's laid-back introduction.

Depp is in Boston filming the Whitey Bulger biopic Black Mass.
