LOS ANGELES, May 29 (UPI) -- In a new interview with The Australian Women's Weekly, Nicole Kidman opens about her adopted children with Tom Cruise.

"They have both chosen to pursue creative and artistic fields, and are doing brilliantly," the 46-year-old said of Bella, a 21-year-old artist, and Connor, a 19-year-old DJ. "However, more importantly, I am proud of the people that have become."

"They are generous, kind and hardworking," she added. "And these are traits that I love to see in my children."

Kidman has long faced media scrutiny about her relationship with Isabella and Connor, who chose to live with their father after Kidman and Cruise divorced in 2001.

"They live with Tom, which was their choice," Kidman said back in 2010. "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?"

Connor said back in March that he had maintained a relationship with Nicole, despite the distance -- he and his sister live in Los Angeles, while Kidman splits her time between Nashville and Sydney.

"I don't care what people say, I know that me and Mom are solid. I love her a lot," he said.
