LONDON, May 21 (UPI) -- Prince Philip was seen sporting a bandage on his hand as he attended several events at Buckingham Palace with his wife, Queen Elizabeth on Wednesday.

The palace told People magazine in a statement that "The Duke of Edinburgh had a minor procedure carried out on his right hand [Tuesday]" at the palace.

Sources tell the magazine that the only reason people found out about the bandage is because the Prince "has been out and about and so active."

"It's extraordinary that he is still out in the park, carriage riding and doing so much," the source continued.

The 92-year-old Prince is expected to join the Queen and other royal family members in their upcoming trip to France for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
