Halle Berry plays an astronaut who returns home to her family after a 13-month solo mission in space, only to find out that she's mysteriously pregnant. Her young son starts to say ominous things like, "I put the family in the spaceship so they'd be safe -- from extinction," and mysterious government bureaucrats get involved.
Berry said she made the move to the small screen to spend more time with her kids and because "it is like the new golden age of television."
"As a woman, when I read [the script], it was such a strong character. I always gravitate toward strong, complicated woman characters. When I heard Steven Spielberg is a part of it, I thought, wow, that is another big reason to be a part of it," she told People last month.
Extant debuts July 9th.
