NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will reunite to cover the 2014 Kentucky Derby.

The two former Olympic figure skaters plan to cover fashion May 2 at the Kentucky Oaks and May 3 at the Kentucky Derby. NBC will begin live coverage from Churchill Downs on April 30.

Lipinski and Weir's figure skating coverage at the 2014 Olympic Games was practically an event of its own earlier this year. The pair were immensely popular as announcers due to their easy camaraderie and humor. They also acted as fashion critics for Access Hollywood at the 2014 Academy Awards.

"Johnny and Tara have an infectious energy that will bring a fun and fresh perspective to our Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks telecasts,” NBC Sports coordinating producer Rob Hyland says.

The first Kentucky Derby took place in 1875. The event is the first leg of the Triple Crown horse races, and is followed by the Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
