Jason Sudeikis is in negotiation to play Fletch in Fletch Won, a Warner Bros. reboot of the 1980s Fletch films.

Chevy Chase first brought the title character to life in 1985's Fletch. The film follows an investigative newspaper reporter, Irwin M. Fletcher, and is based on the first of a series of novels written by Gregory Mcdonald.

Fletch earned generally positive reviews upon its release and did well at the box office. It subsequently developed a cult following, and a second film, Fletch Lives, was released in 1989. Chase also starred in the sequel.

A prequel has been in the works for years now, and will finally come to fruition with the new film, Fletch Won. The movie will be based on Mcdonald's novel of the same name, and will feature a young Fletch at the beginning of his investigative career.

Many actors have been considered for the prequel over the years, but SNL alum Sudeikis seems poised to take on the role. The Horrible Bosses and We're the Millers star will have big shoes to fill, as Chase has previously expressed that Fletch is his favorite role he has played. Chase told Entertainment Weekly in 2004, that Fletch is "my favorite, because if anything represented my comic ability and was closest to what I'm really like, that movie is it."
