J.K. Rowling outed as author Robert Galbraith

LONDON, July 14 (UPI) -- "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has admitted writing the acclaimed crime novel "The Cuckoo's Calling" under the name Robert Galbraith.

The book generated a lot of speculation about the identity of its author after its April release, The Sunday Telegraph reported. Eventually, Rowling was suspected to be Galbraith because the two share the same publisher and editor.

"I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience. It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name," The Telegraph quoted Rowling as saying.

The British newspaper described "The Cuckoo's Calling" as "a gripping, elegant mystery steeped in the atmosphere of London -- from the hushed streets of Mayfair to the backstreet pubs of the East End to the bustle of Soho."
