Minogue-Donovan reunion scrapped
LONDON, July 11 (UPI) -- Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue says she is disappointed her London concert with singer Jason Donovan has been canceled due to bad weather.
The entertainers last performed together 23 years ago and were to reunite on stage Wednesday as part of an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of their PWL record label.
However, the grounds at Hyde Park were deemed unsafe after recent bad weather and the show was canceled, the BBC said. It is unclear if it will be rescheduled.
Minogue and Donovan are both former cast members of TV's "Neighbors" in Australia. Their duet "Especially for You" was an international hit in 1988.
"I am so sorry to hear that the concert tomorrow had to be canceled," Minogue said on her Web site Tuesday. "I feel for all the fans who had bought tickets to this special event. Jason and I were rehearsed and excited to share this moment with everyone."
Also booked to perform at the concert were Steps, Sinitta, Sonia, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Pepsi and Shirlie and Brother Beyond, the BBC said.
Princess Di film won't get U.S. release
LONDON, July 11 (UPI) -- The producers of "Unlawful Killing" say their controversial documentary about the late British Princess Diana won't open in the United States as planned.
Directed by British actor-filmmaker Keith Allen, the film was set to open Aug. 31 in the United States, Spain, Italy, Holland, Brazil, India and Russia, in time for the 15th anniversary of the princess' death in a Paris car crash at the age of 36.
Also killed in the high-speed, drunk-driving wreck was her boyfriend Dodi al-Fayed, whose father, billionaire Mohamed al-Fayed, financed "Unlawful Killing," a film that criticizes the British royal family and suggests there was a coverup surrounding Diana's and Dodi's deaths even though the allegation was proven false in court. It was determined the couple's driver, Henri Paul, who was also killed in the crash, was intoxicated and driving recklessly at the time.
The Hollywood Reporter said producers won't release the film in theaters as scheduled because they couldn't secure the necessary insurance to indemnify them and distributors from lawsuits pertaining to the film's content.
"It became undoable. We are all disappointed," producer Conor Nolan told the entertainment industry trade newspaper. "We worked on 'Unlawful Killing' for four years. We've written back to all of the distributors and are returning their minimum guarantees. We're doing the decent thing."
The Hollywood Reporter said the filmmakers were told they would have to make 87 cuts for the documentary to be shown in the United Kingdom, so no theatrical release or television broadcast is scheduled there.
Bower and Wright end engagement
LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- British film stars Jamie Campbell Bower and Bonnie Wright have ended their engagement, a source told UsMagazine.com.
Bower, 23, is known for his work in the "Twilight" film franchise, while Wright, 21, co-starred in the "Harry Potter" movies. The couple began dating in 2009 and announced their engagement last year.
"Bonnie and Jamie split a while ago," an insider told UsMagazine.com Tuesday. "It was amicable, but things had not been going right for some time. It's sad."
Cookie Monster sings 'Call Me Maybe' parody
NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) -- Cookie Monster, one of the furry stars of the U.S. television series "Sesame Street," sings a parody of "Call Me Maybe" in a new Internet clip.
"Share It Maybe," a spoof of Carly Rae Jepsen's hit "Call Me Maybe," debuted on the pre-school show's YouTube channel Tuesday.
"Me got one wish on me mind," Cookie sings in the video. "It's of the chocolate chip kind. Me look at you and me tell, you may have snickerdoodle. Me trade me soul for a bite. Me spell it out black and white. Me look at you and me see, you like an elf in the tree. You got cookie showing and me got hunger growing, let's get skim milk flowing, we'll start this snack going. Hey me just met you and this is crazy, but you got cookie, so share it maybe."
