Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars wed

BERNALDA, Italy, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Sofia Coppola and Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars were married in Italy this weekend, Hollywoodnews.com reported.

The couple married in a civil ceremony at Coppola's family's villa in the hamlet of Bernalda Saturday, surrounded by friends and family members, the celebrity news Web site reported.

The bride wore a gown made by Azzedine Alaia. Coppola was walked down the aisle by her father, Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola.

The guests included filmmaker George Lucas.

The couple, who live in Paris, have two daughters together, Romy, born in 2006, and Cosima, born last year.
