Baron Cohen to lend voice to 'Simpsons'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will lend his voice to a character on the U.S. animated TV series "The Simpsons," a series official says.

"Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean said the "Bruno" star will play an Israeli tour guide who encounters the Simpsons family vacationing in the Holy Land, Entertainment Weekly reported on its Web site Friday.

"He's trying to get Marge to give him good grades on the comment card, and she goes, 'You people are pushy,' and he goes, 'What do you mean, you people? You try having Syria for a neighbor! What do you have -- Canada?'" Jean said of Baron Cohen's role.

The episode of the Fox comedy featuring the "Borat" star is to air on Palm Sunday, March 28, as part of the 21st season of "The Simpsons."

EW.com said the episode is titled "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed."


Weiland seizure prompts airplane landing

DALLAS, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A commercial flight made an emergency landing in Texas after rock ringer Scott Weiland suffered a seizure mid-flight, a representative says.

The unidentified representative told Rolling Stone exclusively the Stone Temple Pilots singer had the seizure while flying from Los Angeles to Miami Friday, forcing the airplane to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

The representative said after being administered oxygen, the 41-year-old rocker recovered well enough to be transported to a local hospital.

Weiland, who has a history of seizures, was to perform at a Miami club as scheduled Saturday, the representative added.

Rolling Stone said the weekend performance at the Miami club Mansion is part of the official launch of the Weiland for English Laundry clothing line.


U2 to release remastered 'Unforgettable'

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- The Irish rock group U2 says it will be releasing a 25th anniversary reissue of its 1984 album "The Unforgettable Fire" with remastered sound.

Rolling Stone magazine reported Friday the "With or Without You" rockers announced the Oct. 27 release of their recycled music on the band's official Web site recently.

The reissue of the 1984 album, the fourth released by U2, will be available in CD or vinyl format, along with a limited edition box set and a deluxe edition.

Rolling Stone said the deluxe "Unforgettable" edition will feature the reissue CD and a second CD containing unreleased material and B-sides.

The limited edition set will include both CDs from the deluxe set, along with a DVD featuring a documentary about the making of "Unforgettable," all of the 1984 album's music videos and footage from 1986's Amnesty International Conspiracy of Hope Tour.

Rolling Stone said the latest recycling effort follows the band's reissuing of its first three albums -- "Boy," "October" and "War" -- last year.


Comedian Gold joins Gosselin talk show

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- The new talk show pilot starring U.S. reality TV star Kate Gosselin will also feature comedian Judy Gold, an insider says.

E! Online reported exclusively Friday that Gold will serve as a co-host on the new Telepictures series along with former "Early Show" co-anchor Rene Syler and Lee Woodruff, wife of ABC newsman Bob Woodruff.

Unidentified sources previously confirmed Gosselin, known for her reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," and Food Network star Paula Deen would be filming the pilot in New York during the weekend.

"They're still working on the guests," one anonymous source told E! Online.

The New York Post reported the talk show will revolve around issues pertaining to working mothers like Deen and Gosselin.

Syler has two children and wrote the 2007 book "The Good-Enough Mother." Woodruff, whose husband was seriously injured in 2006 by a roadside bomb in Iraq, has four kids.

It was not reported if Gold has any children.
