Comic book icon Lee going online

LONDON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. comic book writer Stan Lee, known for being the co-creator of Spider-Man, says he is working with Disney on a new online comic book series.

The BBC reported Saturday Lee also will serve as the voice for Lee Excelsior, a supporting character in his new animated comic book series "Time Jumper."

Lee told BBC Radio 5 the series will be available online and through mobile phones, and could one day be featured as a movie or TV show.

"If it does as well as we think it will do, it'll end up being a video game, a DVD, a TV show, a movie or anything," Lee said of the Internet series, which has no set release date.

"It's our way of bringing a great comic book to life with motion graphics and music and voiceovers."

Lee would not offer any details regarding "Jumper," which he is working on with Disney through his Purveyors of Wonder production company.

Lee, who also has been credited with helping create comic mainstays the X-Men and Iron Man, remains a staunch supporter of printed comic books.

"There will always be comic books because it's an inexpensive way to enjoy a colorful story and people have always liked that," Lee told BBC Radio 5.
