Alan Jackson says song topics a constant

NASHVILLE, June 7 (UPI) -- U.S. singer Alan Jackson says his country music songs of the past 20 years have tended to be about love and other life experiences.

"The world's changed a lot in 20 years, but songs are pretty much about love or lost love," Jackson, 50, told The (Nashville) Tennessean. "And the rest of the stuff's just about life."

The "Here in the Real World" singer credited his relatively late start in the music industry at the age of 25 with his song-writing approach, the newspaper reported Sunday.

Jackson said prior to creating music, he had been married for several years and worked a variety of jobs, including construction worker and automobile salesman. He told The Tennessean those experiences helped him when creating his lyrics.

"I'd lived a lot of life before I got to Nashville, and that gave me a lot of files that I pull from still today," Jackson said.
