LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- Hospitalized Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor has used the social networking service Twitter to thank her supporters, her spokesman says.

Spokesman Dick Guttman said Taylor, 77, sent a Twitter message to well-wishers Friday from her hospital bed, while also sending a personal Twitter message to former model Kathy Ireland, E! Online reported.

"Thanks darling for the beautiful flowers and all the prayers," Taylor told Ireland in Friday's message. "Now can you just get my puppy past hospital security. Love ... ."

Specific details regarding Taylor's other Twitter messages to supporters were not reported.

Guttman said the "Cleopatra" actress, whose health has been failing in recent years, has become a major fan of Twitter.

Guttman said Taylor's visit to the Los Angeles hospital was merely a routine visit and the actress was doing fine, the British network said.
