LOS ANGELES, April 6 (UPI) -- A spokesman for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says Redmond O'Neal has been arrested again on drug charges.

The 24-year-old son of acting couple Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett pleaded innocent to drug charges last month in a separate case involving his father. Redmond and Ryan O'Neal were arrested after police allegedly found methamphetamines in their home after a routine probation visit, stemming from Redmond's earlier drug conviction. The elder O'Neal has since pleaded guilty to felony drug possession and was ordered to join an 18-month drug deferment program.

People.com said Redmond was arrested Sunday morning for alleged possession of narcotics and for taking narcotics into a jail facility. He reportedly was arrested while driving a friend to visit an incarcerated friend.

"At about 9:30 a.m., our deputies did a routine security check on a car in the parking lot of one of our jails," Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told People.com. "Redmond was driving the vehicle and admitted to deputies he was in possession of drugs."

A court hearing regarding Redmond's most recent brush with the law has been scheduled for Tuesday, the entertainment industry news Web site said.
