LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze, who has been battling pancreatic cancer for a year, remains hospitalized for pneumonia, Usmagazine.com said Tuesday.

However, Swayze's mother, Patsy, told the magazine Monday that the "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing" star, who was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia late last week, is "doing fine."

"He sounds really upbeat and positive. We don't talk about illness when I talk to him," the 56-year-old actor's mom said. "He hasn't even been there a week."

Patrick Swayze insisted in a television interview that aired last week that he isn't on his deathbed, but he also admitted he knows he may have only two years left to live.

"I'd say five years is pretty wishful thinking," he said. "Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."

Swayze shot an entire season of the new television drama "The Beast" while undergoing cancer treatment. The show is set to premiere on A&E Thursday.
