While appearing at the Television Critics Association conference Friday, the 36-year-old actress said she learned of the pregnancy shortly before she had to leave for the South African country of Batswana to film a TV show, People magazine reported.

"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," she said. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14-hour days."

Scott, who has also enjoyed a successful singing career, said she was glad she went through with her plans to film HBO's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" in Botswana.

"My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it," she told People.

Hannity confident with solo TV effort

NEW YORK, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Political pundit Sean Hannity, known best for the U.S. TV program "Hannity & Colmes," says he is confident regarding his upcoming solo TV show.

The 47-year-old conservative commentator noted his new self-titled Fox News Channel program is not his first foray into solo media work, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

"This is not new territory for me," Hannity said, referring to his prior solo work on "Hannity's America" and his weekly radio show. "But the format and the show itself will be entirely different."

In preparation for the premiere of his new program Monday, Hannity has already interviewed U.S. President George W. Bush and former Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Hannity told the Reporter his loyal fans can expect in-depth interviews with such guests along with regular doses of his conservative opinions on the political world.

"This is an incredible time in our nation's history and as a fiscal and social conservative ... I won't be hesitant to share my views with my audience," said Hannity, who is wrapping up a 12-year stint with his more liberal foil, Alan Colmes.

Kardashian hints at TV proposal from Bush

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. TV star Kim Kardashian appeared to say there was a possibility her boyfriend, NFL star Reggie Bush, could propose to her on her E! network show.

E! Online reported Friday that when asked about the possibility that Bush may propose during an upcoming episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Kardashian did little to dispel such rumors.

"It's supposed to be a surprise, right?" Kardashian said.

The 28-year-old Kardashian did say her New Orleans Saints boyfriend would be making more than casual appearances during the forthcoming third season of the reality series.

"Reggie is an extremely private person," Kardashian said of the NFL running back. "He hates being famous. He hates the paparazzi. He hates the whole scene of it all. But you will see him more this season. He's gotten a little more comfortable."

"Keeping Up" follows Kardashian, her two sisters, one brother, mother and step-father through their daily lives. Sister Khloe is dating Minnesota Timberwolves guard Rashad McCants.

Blu-ray format facing uncertain future

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Despite an upsurge in U.S. sales last year, Blu-ray discs and players will likely be seen as obsolete within the next few years, an analyst says.

Enderle Group principal analyst Rob Enderle said while U.S. Blu-ray disc sales exceeded 24 million in 2008 compared with a mere 5.67 million a year earlier, the home entertainment items remain a "high end" item, The Times of London reported Saturday.

"Blu-ray is going to play a transition 'between' role -- it can sustain the high end of the market but as soon as the flip comes to downloads or streaming -- and I think that will be in the next couple of years -- then it will not make any further progress," Enderle said. "I am not convinced Blu-ray will ever go mainstream."

The Times said Blu-ray Disc Association Chairman Andy Powers announced at a recent news conference that as of 2008, more than 1,100 different movie titles were available in Blu-ray format.

Of those films, "The Dark Knight" has earned the title of the first Blu-ray disc to sell more than 1 million copies, Powers said.
