MAPLE GROVE, Minn., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A floating piece of U.S. cinematic history -- one of the boats used in the filming of the Oscar-winning "On Golden Pond" -- is up for sale on eBay.
As of Tuesday night, the owner, who lists the boat's location as Maple Grove, Minn., had attracted 18 bids with a high offering of $35,910. The bidding for the 1950 Chris-Craft Sportsman ends on Jan. 1.
"This is THE movie boat from On Golden Pond!!!!" the online auction site ad touts.
The seller says the "Thayer IV" was one of two vintage boats used in the production of "Golden Pond" with the other being destroyed in the movie's crash scene. The 1981 movie starred Henry and Jane Fonda and Katharine Hepburn.
The owner claims to have documentation to verify its use in the movie, including the title from the prior owner and the transfer information from the boat specialist hired to get the boat ready for the movie.
