Newman died Friday night after a long illness. Published reports said was cancer, Westport Now said Saturday.

Newman, who had lived in Westport for more than 50 years, was an actor, director, entrepreneur and race car driver who won an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and an Emmy award.

Newman founded Newman's Own, a Westport-based food company which has donated more than $200 million to charity.

Newman, in August, declined further out-patient treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and had told his family he wished to die at home, Westport Now reported, noting Connecticut's Lime Rock race track reportedly opened for an afternoon in August so Newman could take a few last laps in his GT1 Corvette.

Crowe: Son, 2, has predetermined bride

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Australian actor Russell Crowe quips that his 2-year-old son Tennyson is already betrothed to the young daughter of U.S. country music singer Keith Urban.

The "Gladiator" star told People magazine Friday that Urban's wife, actress Nicole Kidman, was so enamored with his son that she jokingly hinted at a possible prearranged marriage with her 2-year-old daughter, Rose.

"Nicole had one look at my younger son Tennyson, and looked up at me and said, 'I'm a great believer in arranged marriages,'" Crowe said during a "Body of Lies" promotion event. "I believe she made the connection between Sunday and Tennyson now -- so Tennyson is already engaged!"

The father-of-two told People that having children with his wife, Danielle Spencer, has been a "complex" experience he thoroughly enjoys.

"It's the most fantastic thing I've ever experienced," Crowe said, "and it continues to get more fun and more complex with every day."

Police eyeing Winehouse on assault claim

LONDON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- London police want to question singer Amy Winehouse after a fan accused the "Rehab" star of punching her in the face, a source says.

An anonymous source said the troubled singer allegedly struck Sherene Flash in the eye after the fan asked her if she could take her picture following this week's End of Summer Ball, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

"Sherene asked Amy if she could take a photo," the source alleged.

"Amy was OK at first, but then Sherene asked if a friend could get in the shot, Amy lashed out."

The source said the 25-year-old, who has had a number of medical and substance-related problems in the past year, had just completed a "tragic" on-stage performance with her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.

"It was tragic -- she seemed totally wasted," the source told the Mail regarding Winehouse's performance Thursday. "She was jumping all over Dionne as the poor girl tried to sing for the crowd. Amy didn't really sing a single note -- it sounded more like she was grunting down the mic."

The British publication reported Saturday that while the "Material Girl" maintains a strict macrobiotic diet and routinely exercises, the 50-year-old looked her age while exiting a Paris hotel this week.

The celebrity's declining appearance also comes amidst rumors she has had plastic surgery to maintain her famed sexy looks, the newspaper reported.

The mother-of-three is said to conduct two-hour workout sessions six days a week to maintain her body after 25 years in the music industry.

Madonna, who is pushing through a 50-date worldwide tour, owns an $11 million private gym where she conducts her weekly fight against the aging process, the Mail said.
