Hip-hop jeweler suing for missing money

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Several members of the hip-hop music community owe Jacob Arabov money for goods he produced, the jeweler alleges in four New York lawsuits.

The Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuits filed by Arabov, who is set to begin a prison sentence, allege that rapper Juvenile, musician Wyclef Jean, producer Scott Storch and New York Knicks center Eddy Curry all owe him payments for jewelry he created, the New York Post reported Sunday.

The lawsuits seek a total of $1.2 million for the allegedly missing payments, the newspaper said.

The sales came as Arabov was known in the hip-hop world as "Jacob the Jeweler" and would cater to stars' needs for lavish-yet-stylish jewelry.

His run as the industry's top jewelry producer appears to be at an end, however, since he pleaded guilty in June to charges of giving false statements and falsifying records.

The Post said as a result of Arabov's plea, the notable New York jeweler is now facing a 30-month sentence in a federal prison.
