'Day,' 'Losers' big winners at CineVegas

LAS VEGAS, June 22 (UPI) -- The dramatic movie "She Unfolds by Day" and the documentary "Beautiful Losers" won grand jury prizes at the CineVegas festival in Las Vegas, officials say.

Event Artistic Director Trevor Groth said the annual film festival was filled with impressive films this year and attendance reached a record high, Variety reported.

"We have seen a considerable amount of filmmaker talent at the festival over the past decade, and this year is no exception," Groth at said. "In addition, CineVegas had a record number of attendees this year."

"Day," from director Rolf Belgum, focused on nature and Alzheimer's disease, while Joshua Leonard and Aaron Rose's documentary followed a famed art movement of the 1980s.

Meanwhile, special jury awards were given to Rachel Samuels' movie, "Dark Streets," and actor Bill Pullman, who was honored for his role in "Your Name Here."

Paul Eagleston and Stephen Rose's film "Hi My Name is Ryan," also about a historic art scene, was given a special jury documentary prize, Variety said.

Audience awards at the festival were given to the comedy "Volunteers" and the horse-racing documentary "Lost in the Fog."
