'Hoosiers' voted No. 1 basketball movie

LOS ANGELES, April 8 (UPI) -- Forty percent of the thousands of people who participated in a Moviefone poll chose "Hoosiers" as their favorite Hollywood basketball film of all time.

The 1986 movie starred Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper, and was inspired by the real-life story of a small-town high school football team that went on to win the Indiana state championship.

Coming in at No. 2 on the Moviefone survey was "White Men Can't Jump" with 13 percent of the vote. "Love & Basketball" took the third spot with 9 percent of the vote, while "Glory Road" the fourth spot with 8 percent and "Coach Carter" the fifth spot with 7 percent.

Also included in the top 10 were "Space Jam," "He Got Game," "Above the Rim," "Hoop Dreams" and "Blue Chips."
