MINNEAPOLIS, March 25 (UPI) -- Sly Stone reportedly is set to make a rare personal appearance with his famous rock-soul band at an upcoming gig at First Avenue in Minneapolis.

The Star Tribune reported that Sly and the Family Stone, known for its 1960s and '70s hits like "Everyday People" and "I Want to Take You Higher," is scheduled to perform May 2 at the venue.

The 65-year-old singer's set at the 2006 Grammy Awards marked his first public performance since 1987.

The reclusive artist made a few appearances with the New Family Stone last year, but walked off the stage after only a few songs at two festivals in Europe, the Star Tribune said.
