Carty recovering following stage collapse

CAMBRIDGE, England, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Actor Todd Carty, known for his role on the British soap opera "EastEnders," is recovering nicely after becoming ill on-stage, his agent said.

Carty's agent, Derek Webster, told the BBC the 44-year-old is doing well following his collapse Saturday in the town of Stevenage.

"He did collapse on stage. He was violently sick. The theater staff brought the curtain down, rushed him to the Stevenage hospital," Webster said.

"He's undergoing tests, there's not much more that we can say, other than that he's well, he's awake and he's conscious and his wife is with him."

Webster suggested an ear infection may have caused the collapse by the actor, who played market trader Mark Fowler on the BBC1 program until 2002.
