Vedder set to begin first solo tour

NEW YORK, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Singer Eddie Vedder will be touring the United States and Canada this spring, marking the first time the former Pearl Jam frontman has toured as a solo act.

Vedder's tour, which follows his successful "Into The Wild" soundtrack," will begin April 2 when the rocker performs in Vancouver, Billboard reported Friday.

Matt Shay, a vice president at RCA Music Group, which helped Vedder with the "Wild" soundtrack, said the solo tour will allow Vedder's fans to see him close up.

"This will be an amazing opportunity for fans to see Eddie Vedder in such intimate settings," Shay said of the six-city tour. "Working with Eddie on the music from 'Into the Wild' has been an honor, and the tour will be a true highlight for all of us."

The tour comes despite Vedder's initial hesitance to perform the soundtrack's relaxed fare to a live audience, Billboard said.
