SYDNEY, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Australian pop singer Natalia Imbruglia and her husband, rocker Daniel Johns, have separated, reportedly due to career pressures.
The 32-year-old pop star, who earned fame in the United States and abroad with the song "Torn," said work pressures forced her to grow apart from the Silverchair singer, the BBC reported Saturday.
The musical pair even released a joint statement detailing the mutual decision and their intent to remain friends.
"We want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends," the statement said. "This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly. However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us."
The BBC said Imbruglia's entertainment career began in her native Australia, where the future singer earned popularity through the TV soap opera "Neighbors."
