'Lost' to return in January on new night

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. suspense drama "Lost" is set to return to television next month on a new night -- Thursday.

"Lost" will take over the time slot currently occupied by "Grey's Anatomy," which only has one new episode to air due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.

A serial story about castaways fighting for their lives against mysterious forces on a beautiful, dangerous island, "Lost" is slated to return Jan. 31 for a fourth season after an eight-month absence.

Eight episodes, half the number originally planned for this season, have been completed, "Access Hollywood" reported.

It is unclear how the WGA strike will affect the rest of the season.

ABC announced earlier that "Lost" would conclude in 2010 after three more seasons of 16 episodes each.
