LAS VEGAS, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Britney Spears' hair looked so mangy at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas because she had a spat with her hairdresser before the show.
Weeks before Sunday's event, Spears had requested that Ken Paves' two female assistants style her extensions "since she prefers women around her," a source told People magazine.
The 25-year-old pop star was apparently disappointed when Paves arrived to do the work himself.
Pave soon left, taking his hair with him.
"He bailed," the source said.
Paves's representative confirmed, "Ken made the professional decision not to do her hair for the VMAs."
Meanwhile, TMZ.com is reporting that, at the behest of her handlers, Spears ended up wearing shoulder-length blonde extensions from Jessica Simpson's line.
The Web site said Spears "pitched a fit" backstage because she wanted to make her eagerly awaited comeback as a brunette, but was overruled by her entourage.
