NEW YORK, June 13 (UPI) -- The New York-based production company Apostle, which created the cable series "Rescue Me," has been given a new three-year deal by Sony.
Headed up by "Rescue" star Denis Leary and his partner Jim Serpico, Apostle will aim at developing more than eight new TV series as part of its new deal with the media heavyweight, Variety reported Wednesday.
"We're trying to make an even bigger name for ourselves," Serpico said of the deal. "If you're a major piece of talent, and you want to work in New York, we want you to strongly think of us. We physically know how to produce these shows and make them work in New York."
Serpico also credited Sony for its support prior to the new deal, including its efforts regarding Wednesday's launch of the fourth season of "Rescue Me" on the FX cable network.
"They've been great partners to us over the past few years," Serpico told Variety. "And they've been very supportive of 'Rescue Me' and our development slate."
