Rosie's post-'View' options rumor fodder

NEW YORK, April 26 (UPI) -- Rumors, including a revival of her own talk show, are swirling around Rosie O'Donnell's future since she said she was leaving New York-based "The View."

While telling "View" viewers Wednesday only that the network "wanted three years, I wanted one" in a new contract, O'Donnell is said to be considering a revival of her syndicated solo daytime show, USA Today reported Thursday. She will leave "The View" in June when her contract expires.

While ABC's Buena Vista, as part of her contract with the network, would have first rights to negotiate a solo O'Donnell show, it's been hinted that Warner Bros.' TelePictures has more than a passing interest.

O'Donnell didn't mention any plans while discussing her departure from "The View."

"She doesn't know what she wants to do right now," said O'Donnell's publicist, Cindi Berger.

Her exit was somewhat surprising, said Bill Carroll, Katz Television Group analyst.

"The conventional wisdom was she was going to stay on the show next year and then go off and do her own thing," Katz explained. "She put ('The View') back on the front page (with) backstage squabbles and being a lightning rod for controversial discussion."
