Harvard honors Eddie Palmieri

BOSTON, April 8 (UPI) -- Harvard University in Massachusetts plans to honor Latin Jazz musician Eddie Palmieri, who has recorded 33 albums and won eight Grammys.

The school's Office for Arts and the Harvard Jazz Bands will pay their respects to Palmieri from Wednesday to Saturday when he will meet with the music students, The Boston Globe reported.

Palmieri will hold a public conversation Friday with Jose Masso, the host of the "Con Salsa!" radio show on Boston University's WBUR-FM. He also plans to perform with the Harvard Jazz Bands Saturday.

"I never thought this would happen," said Palmieri during a recent interview at the Harvard Inn. "It's a great honor.

"It's something beyond comprehension."
